Gabriel Resources off 13 per cent in face of protests
The big protests in Romania have clipped Gabriel Resources (TSE:GBU) 13.53% over the last five days and it is now trading at $1.46.
The stock's 52-week range is $1.11 to $2.94.
On Tuesday Romania's President Traian Basescu suggested there may be a referendum on the mine after thousands took to the streets. The crowds were angry that a draft bill had been reached between the government and the company on licensing and revenue sharing.
The protests have gained traction in social media.
Reporting about the protests by Al Jazeera made the front page of Reddit. A Facebook page seeking to turn Rosia Montana into a UNESCO world Heritage site has 117,000 likes. And there has been chatter on Twitter.
