Stocks, commodities gain on economic outlook

The September rally continued Wednesday on renewed belief of a global economic expansion. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 108.30 points to 9,791.71, its eighth gain in the past nine sessions. The Nasdaq composite index added 30.51 points to 2,133.15 and the S&P 500 stock index rose 16.13 points to 1,068.76. All three major indexes closed at their highest levels in 2009.
