The 'Glencore' name wins out

Glencore Xstrata will just be called Glencore, according to a report from the Financial Times.

The name change will be rolled out in 2014. The FT learned of the change from ". . . people familiar with the situation."

Kicked off in 2012, the merger of Swiss-based commodities giants Glencore and Xstrata was a protracted saga fraught with repeated setbacks and delays. Regulatory approval wrapped up in early 2013.

Glencore Xstrara is the world's 12th largest company, according to Fortune Global 500.
