TIMELINE: Pascua Lama – from $1.5 billion to $8.5 billion to suspension
Barrick Gold's Pascua Lama was suspended on Thursday as the company struggles to deal with its debt of almost $15 billion. If it goes into production, the mine, which straddles the Chilean-Argentinian border, is expected to produce about 800,000 to 850,000 ounces of gold a year in the first full five years of its 25 year life.
