The board of directors of Brazilian miner Vale elected member Wilfred Theodoor Bruijn as a temporary chairman, the company said on Tuesday.

Bruijn will stay in the role until a shareholders meeting scheduled for July 22 chooses a new chairman, Vale said in a securities filing. Former Chairman Daniel Andre Stieler resigned last week from the role.
