Metso has signed an agreement to acquire South Korean valve technology company, Valstone Control Inc. (Valstone). The acquisition strengthens Metso's control valve and service offering for customers in the oil and gas and power industries

Metso has received an arbitration award in its favor amounting to EUR 10 million plus around EUR 2 million in interest. The arbitration process was related to a large project delivery in Turkey.

Metso will supply a tandem rotary railcar dumper to Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd. in Australia. The equipment will be delivered to Hamersley Iron's Cape Lambert, Port B iron ore operation in North Western Australia. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The order also includes spare parts, technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance testing.

Metso and Arcelor Mittal Tubarão, located in Espirito Santo State, Brazil, have signed a service contract covering approximately 2,000 automatic and safety valves.

Metso's strong performance continued.

Metso DNA is again leading the way by being the first in the world to introduce new control applications that enhance productivity and profitability in energy industries, pulp and paper industries, and as a new area, mining and construction industries.

Metso and the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, have finalized a three-year agreement encompassing joint research and performance evaluations of the VERTIMILL® Grinding Mill developed by Metso.

Metso will supply railcar dumper technology to Westshore Terminals Limited Partnership, which operates a coal storage and loading terminal located at Roberts Bank, Delta, British Columbia, Canada.

Metso will deliver a metal shredder plant to the Russian Vyksa Steel Works, part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK). The order is the largest ever for Metso's metal shredding technology from Russia. The delivery of the Metso plant to Vyksa Steel Works will be completed in the second quarter of 2012. The value of the order has not been disclosed.
