At Rosebel Gold Mines N.V., we are currently seeking a dedicated
Senior Mine Technology Engineer to join our Mine Technical Services department. As a
Senior Mine Technology Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining and managing the WENCO® Fleet Management System at Rosebel.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Optimize Fleet Management System (FMS)
- Maintain the efficiency of the Fleet Management System.
- Integrate drill measurement systems with GPS technology.
- Provide real-time production data and cost estimates through FMS.
- Regularly update FMS hardware and software, utilizing new features and providing training as needed.
- Train employees, operators, and staff on FMS usage.
- Coordinate with departments (Engineering, Geology, Maintenance, and Operations) to align FMS with user needs.
- Research new mining fleet management advancements and implement feasible solutions.
- Create and manage reports, scorecards, and dashboards for FMS users.
- Maintain a real-time or near real-time FMS standby server to facilitate system software upgrades and to provide a backup server in the case of a failure of the operational server.
Ensure Data Accuracy and Quality
- Maintain high-quality data standards in mine technology systems.
- Monitor and improve data quality using measurement indicators.
- Develop business rules to detect and address inaccurate data.
- Implement systems for automatic or manual data review and correction.
- Investigate causes of poor data quality (e.g., operator errors, hardware faults) and resolve issues.
- Perform periodic checks of HP-GPS loading units and drills comparing the measured position of the machine to measurements made by survey.
- Conduct regular checks comparing GPS-measured positions and depths with survey and tape measurements.
- Monitor truck and loader payload systems and ensure calibrations when needed.
Maintain Operational Readiness of Technology Systems
- Monitor FMS servers and resolve issues proactively.
- Equip the Mine Technology team with tools and resources for quick repairs.
- Keep a stock of spare hardware for technology systems.
- Schedule and maintain regular database backups.
- Collaborate with the ICT department to develop disaster recovery plans for technology systems.
- Secure servers by applying regular updates.
- Maintain a standby server for real-time system upgrades and as a backup.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Must have 10 years of work experience in open-pit mine operations.
- Must have 8 years of experience in end-user and administration of fleet management systems. Preferably working with WENCO® Fleet Management System.
- Must have a Bachelor's science degree in geology, mining engineering, computer science or other technical field.
- Proficiency in associated software with good knowledge of MS Office suite and MS Project
- Experience in working with Microsoft SQL Server, including:
- Designing complex T-SQL scripts
- Transaction log shipping
- Database replication
- Developing T-SQL jobs
- Experience with HP-GPS drill navigation systems and their management.
- Strong knowledge of fleet management systems, including configuration and database management.
- Proven skills in report and dashboard development, using tools like SSRS and Power BI.
- Effective communication skills to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Strong troubleshooting and systems analysis abilities.
- Self-motivated with excellent task prioritization in high-pressure environments.
- In-depth understanding of mine technology systems.
- Technical expertise in wired and wireless communication systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Skill in building internal and external networks to support team success.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be willing to work on a rotation schedule of 6 weeks on/3 weeks off, 12 hours a day.
