Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory Approvals, the Senior Lead, Regulatory Approvals is responsible for leading all aspects of the regulatory approval process for EVR’s major Coal mine development projects.
To be successful, we are looking for a leader with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Someone who ability to lead a team of consultants and direct reports, and collaborate with partners, including government officials, Indigenous groups, and communities of interest is critical. The successful candidate would be a motivated self-starter, have strong technical writing skills, and a solid understanding of how environmental disciplines relate to one another through impact assessment.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Lead the preparation and delivery of applications, regulatory review, and engagement processes for major mine development projects
- Lead the team on EVR’s Project Delivery and Social, Environmental, and Regulatory Approvals (SERA) frameworks, delivery of applications, including participation in risk analyses and recommend changes to the strategic direction, guidance on project scopes, development of quality applications and issues resolution to acquire major approvals for EVR’s mine development projects
- Lead multi-disciplinary consulting teams with close collaboration with engineering, social responsibilities and other site teams
- Ensure that projects align with requirements set out in agreements with Indigenous groups, and with EVR’s regional environmental and social programs
- Manage budgets, schedule, and scope of the SERA components of projects
- Collaborate with mine operations, project teams, and subject matter specialists to ensure full integration of SERA aspects within the project
- Provide briefings to the relevant advisory groups and the executive leadership
Requirements:
- Science or Engineering degree in environment, biology, forestry, agronomy, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum ten years of demonstrated ability in leading regulatory approvals in the natural resource sector, preferably in mining
- Demonstrated ability leading a team
- Solid understanding of environmental assessment legislation, BC Environmental Assessment Act, BC Mines Act, BC Environmental Management Act, BC Water Sustainability Act, federal Fisheries Act, or other applicable legislation is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
