Job Purpose
The Senior Specialist, Logistics manages day-to-day chartering and operations of vessels for Ma’aden’s dry bulk, containers, and Ammonia fleet. The role involves executing shipping and chartering strategies, contracting, planning, scheduling, and monitoring logistics services while ensuring cost efficiency, safety, and timely product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Strategy & Planning
- Prepare the rolling 5-year outbound logistics plan aligned with BU's overall strategy
- Prepare yearly and monthly Business Plans for the outbound logistics department in line with the overall department’s Strategy
- Analyze potential logistics solutions to improve fleet utilization in cost effective manner, preserving safety and product quality
- Estimate new shipment capacity and budgets required
- Conduct risk mitigation planning and ensure regulatory compliance with maritime laws
Logistics Operations
- Align with commercial teams to manage shipment schedules
- Monitor and update freight market trends and cost analysis
- Ensure vessel compliance with international safety and legal standards
- Prepare and review of all required logistics documents (e.g. charter party, COA's, freight invoices, LOI etc) to ensure on time delivery to customers
- Oversee freight cost calculation, fuel (bunker) supply management, and payments processing
- Negotiate and secure required transportation/logistics capacity (vessels, land, warehouse etc..) either under Spot, COA’s or Time charter contracts to ensure on time delivery at the minimum possible logistics cost
Supplier & Customer Management
- Negotiate agreements with shipping companies, brokers, and service providers
- Track contract renewals, performance, and complaint resolution
- Maintain customer relationships and provide logistics support
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track KPIs for cost, efficiency, and service levels
- Provide weekly, monthly, and annual reports on logistics performance
- Conduct cost analysis and adjust logistics strategies accordingly
Market Partnerships and Inorganic Growth Opportunities
- Consolidate data and prepare analysis for market studies related to freight markets (Dry bulk, liquid, containers, land transportation etc)
- Contribute to the Due-Diligence process for relevant activities, in coordination with the Commercial teams, including:
- identification of inorganic opportunities and potential partnerships by providing the necessary logistics information
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain/logistics, preferably in mining or petrochemicals industry
- Experience handling multi-team, multi-project responsibilities
