About the role:
Reporting to the General Supervisor, Processing, the Analyst, Sampler is responsible for providing accurate coal preparation and assay testing to ensure customer satisfaction and mining performance for our operations. The schedule for this role has fulltime hours and follows a 4x4 rotation of days and nights.
To be successful, we are looking for someone who can work independently and enjoys working within a team. This person is detail-orientated and meticulous, and can multi-task, prioritize and remain organized in a fast-moving and repetitive environment. The ability to handle samples up to 25kg is important. Finally, since you will be engaging with multiple partners across our site, strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills will be vital.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Prepare and process daily composite and customer samples in a safe and efficient manner
- Analyze coal utilizing specific procedures that incorporate ASTM standards such as dilatation, fluidity, phosphorus, Sulphur, alkali extraction, proximate analysis, FSI, screening, magnetite analysis, froth cell analysis, stockpiles, drill holes as well as plant production analysis
- Maintain technical updates, keeping the coal laboratory procedures current
- Assist with train reports and maintain the assay program
- Calibrate and maintain various pieces of lab equipment (pulverizers, crushers, screens) and keep track of calibration dates, order parts, and put in work orders for repairs
Requirements:
- Technical diploma or high school diploma with related experience
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite®, particularly Excel and Word
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Salary: $61,500 / year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
