Introduction
We are seeking a Automation and Electrical Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for the electrical and automation design for product development. The position requires general knowledge of industrial electrical engineering, electrical standards, and the ability to understand PLC controls. The Automation and Electrical Engineer is responsible for engineering design including the preparation of specifications, electrical drawings, review of vendor drawings and vendor quotations. The engineer will have the responsibility to develop Metso standard product portfolio according to roadmap and develop specific solutions for our customers. The Automation and Electrical Engineer works in close collaboration with partners and reports to the Lead Automation Engineer and partners.
This position is located in Brookfield, Wi. However, we do offer a hybrid working model.
What you’ll do
- Implement automation system improvements and updates.
- Carry out electrical system improvements and updates.
- Develop HMI and PLC code for R&D associated with product development
- Work with third-party partners to create electrical drawings, HMI, PLC logic, and documentation.
- Select components and vendor partners for electrical control systems.
- Develop supporting documentation packages for manufacturing and customers for Metso’s automation products.
- Maintains awareness of current latest technologies and trends in electrical engineering and automation and implement product improvement ideas.
Who you are
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Automation Engineering or equivalent
- A minimum experience of 3 years experience in Process Automation Design or Manufacturing Automation
- Experience in CAD software, experience with EPlan is preferred
- Experience in PLC, with experience as a developer Siemens, or Allen Bradley programming software
- Experience in HMI development
- Experience with drawing and checking electrical schematics.
- Experience with project delivery in manufacturing or custom systems
- Experience with hydraulic and lubrication control.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to review and troubleshoot PLC controls.
- Proficient communication skills (both written and oral) and effective interpersonal skills are required.
- Solid computer skills.
- Must be able to function effectively both as a member of a team and as an individual contributor.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted with limited supervision.
- Highly motivated professional with the ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a structured environment.
- Effective task management
- The ability to travel will be required as needed, may include both domestic and international (up to 15%-25%)
