About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. Reporting to the Mill General Foreman, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Planner to join our team at a mining process plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance and operational activities, with a solid understanding of SAP for managing and optimizing plant processes. This is a key role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and productivity of our mining operations.
Primary Responsibility & Duties
- Develop and maintain detailed short-term and long-term plans for plant operations, ensuring alignment with overall production goals.
- Coordinate the scheduling of maintenance activities, plant shutdowns, and project timelines, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Utilize SAP for effective planning, ensuring all activities, resources, and materials are tracked and optimized.
- Manage and update SAP system to ensure accurate data entry related to maintenance, procurement, and production activities.
- Generate regular reports and analyses from SAP to track performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and suggest improvements.
- Ensure the integration of SAP data into daily and long-term planning processes, improving decision-making.
- Oversee the forecasting and procurement of materials and equipment necessary for plant operations.
- Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the availability of materials in line with the planned schedules.
- Ensure optimal resource allocation, adjusting for changes in production priorities, resource availability, and plant requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, reduce downtime, and enhance overall plant performance.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure alignment of objectives and strategies.
- Implement best practices in planning and scheduling, utilizing SAP tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Act as a key liaison between departments, ensuring timely communication regarding planning, scheduling, and operational issues.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure critical equipment is prioritized and issues are resolved quickly.
- Assist with the training and mentoring of junior planning staff.
- Ensure all planning activities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Monitor compliance with plant operational procedures and maintenance schedules.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the development of safe work practices.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience
- Mechanical Trade or Engineering
- Mechanical Trade, Engineering, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a planning role within a mining process plant.
- Ability to assess data, troubleshoot issues, and make informed decisions to optimize planning and operations.
- Clear communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals and ensure smooth execution.
- Efficiently manage priorities, schedules, and resources to meet deadlines and maintain operational flow.
- Adapt to changing priorities, mentor junior staff, and lead teams effectively to drive continuous improvement and operational success.
- Advanced knowledge of SAP (PM, MM, PP modules) for maintenance scheduling, resource tracking, and generating performance reports.
- Expertise in planning and coordinating maintenance schedules for plant equipment, along with managing materials, spare parts, and resources for optimal operations.
- Equipment Knowledge & Safety Compliance.
- Strong understanding of milling equipment and safety regulations, ensuring effective maintenance practices and adherence to industry standards.
The schedule for this position is based in a camp operation working on a defined rotation schedule. 7 days on / 7 days off.
