Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Emergency Response Coordinator, you will be part of the Asset Protection Department. You will undertake day-to-day operational, administrative, and supervisory responsibilities associated with the training programs put in place by the Emergency Response Coordinator. You will need extensive technical competence in firefighting operations and techniques, incident command system principles and functions, and current teaching and instructional methods. You will include regular maintenance on rescue equipment as directed by the Emergency Response Coordinator. Hours of work will vary to accommodate operational requirements such as meetings, training schedules, and volunteer firefighter availability. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Establish and prioritize departmental goals and objectives that align with the Company’s mission and vision;
- Establish short and Long-term training objectives and programs in consultation with the Emergency Response Coordinator and appointed volunteer training Captains, linking training goals to operational needs, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards;
- Work directly with volunteer Officers, Firefighters, and external entities to ensure training delivery and compliance with department training objectives and goals, while providing oversight for maintaining member certifications and third-party training, including specialty programs and instructor activities;
- Assist with Firefighter recruitment process and selection activities, including coordinating and developing recruit Firefighter training program, conducting skills assessments and evaluations, and preparing and proctoring recruitment examinations;
- Instruct and coach department officers in NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor competencies to ensure successful delivery of training at the crew level;
- Reviews training reports, measures overall training progress and regular reports to Emergency Response Coordinator;
- Perform special project work, including but not limited to research and analysis of firefighting best practices, training, and related operational issues;
- Supervise assigned duties and functions of volunteer appointed Captain and Firefighters within the department;
- Mitigate fires/explosions and environmental incidents and saving of life and company property;
- Provide emergency services, including but not limited to medical, rescue (confined space, high angle, elevator, trench, surface water), hazardous material, airport response, and other related emergency services, when required, in a safe, competent, and professional manner;
- Ensure the proper preventive maintenance of fire department equipment, structure & building fire equipment, site fire systems, both water and non-water-based, plus all related equipment;
- Support emergency incidents, investigations, inspections, Incident Action Plans, Emergency Operation Centers, and as required, provide support and direction to non-suppression/rescue departments within the company;
- Act as the Emergency Response Coordinator in their absence;
- Perform other related duties as required.
What You Need To Succeed
- Post-Secondary education, in an applicable or related field ;
- Minimum Ontario Driver’s License with D-Z Endorsement;
- Minimum of 3-5 years in an officer or leadership role;
- 5 years’ experience in firefighting within an industrial and or municipal capacity;
- Medical responder or paramedic background would be considered an asset;
- ICS 100 (200 & 300 would be considered an asset);
- You must have completed NFPA 1001 Level I & II, 1072, 1002, 1021, 1041, 1006, 1003 or CARS 3.1.4, 1051;
- EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) Certification;
- Demonstrated athletic or physical capabilities and achievement;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work at our Detour Lake mine site, followed by 14 days off and respond to emergencies as needed;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
