About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Water Management, the Water Resource Engineer or Scientist is responsible for supporting the development of an expansion project considering managing field programs, water modelling, water strategy definition, and detailed water management infrastructure design.

The successful individual would also have excellent teamwork skills and embody the values of integrity, dedication, innovation, excellence, and respect. Strong communication skills are vital for success, as you will be presenting technical information to a variety of audiences.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Lead field work around surface water and groundwater
- Manage the surface water and groundwater data having a coordination between different groups and team in the Elk Valley
- Manage and supervise the development and use of water models such as water balances, groundwater models and hydrology models
- Support on leading the definition of the Water Strategy and Water management plan for the expansion project though the evaluation of different options
- Lead the design of water infrastructure require to meet the water strategy defined for the project
- Coordination with local and regional groups in order to find synergies and design a project consistent with the surrounding
- Complete contract management
- Collaborate closely with government agencies, Indigenous groups, and local communities of interest
- Support permitting applications and regulatory submissions
- Plan and complete capital budgets for water projects
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering or Science, in environment, civil, geochemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, or other related field
- Minimum three years of experience in an industrial environment
- Experience in project management and delivery
- Experience leading the development and implementation of water management programs, and risk evaluation of water quality and quantity
- Technical knowledge of federal and provincial mining water practices and regulatory compliance
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
- Experience with Water Models, such as GoldSim, Groundwater Vista
- Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia is considered an asset

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
