Position Description:
Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a passionate and driven Environmental professional to join our dynamic Environmental team at Carlin. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and will play a key role in managing and enhancing air quality programs to ensure the highest standards of legal and environmental compliance are consistently met.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with site personnel to ensure seamless compliance with Title V, Class II, and MOPTC permits.
- Continuously improve and maintain robust sustainability systems that guarantee air quality compliance throughout the organization.
- Lead inspections to ensure operations meet permit requirements, including guiding regulatory inspectors during periodic site visits.
- Oversee and manage source testing activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Prepare detailed semi-annual and annual compliance reports, contributing to the organization’s environmental transparency and accountability.
- Manage contractor performance and ensure high-quality execution of environmental activities.
- Partner with operating divisions to help them achieve environmental and operational objectives.
- Deliver impactful training sessions for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders, fostering a culture of compliance.
- Provide after-hours, on-call support for environmental incidents as needed.
- Navigate diverse terrains, including uneven, sloped, rocky, wet, or icy ground, and safely lift up to 40+ pounds as part of routine tasks.
- Take on additional responsibilities as required to ensure environmental excellence.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, or1-3 years of direct experience in mining and air program management.
- Hands-on experience with air permit compliance and a strong understanding of regulatory agency interactions.
- Ideally, 1-3 years of experience in the mining industry.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of complex data from multiple sources.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively present, write, and interact with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven track record in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel.
- Familiarity with compliance systems such as ISO 14001 is a plus.
