As a key member of IAMGOLD’s Global Technology Leadership Team, the Senior Manager, Digital Mines & Operational Technology will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mining operations. Reporting to the Vice President, Head of Technology, this Toronto-based leader will drive the integration of digital technologies across the mining value chain, enhancing productivity, optimizing operations, and mitigating risks. Working closely with corporate and site functional leaders, you will develop and execute a Digital Mines strategy, ensuring alignment between Operational Technology (OT) initiatives and broader business objectives. With a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, you will establish agile frameworks and industry-leading standards to guide investments, implementation, and ongoing support of digital mine capabilities.
Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will engage with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies, oversee the adoption of Industry 4.0 advancements—including IoT, AI, machine learning, and robotics—and provide strategic direction on integrating OT with IT systems for real-time decision-making. Your leadership will influence cross-functional teams, guiding OT engineers and operational personnel in identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting the development of business cases for technology integration. Additionally, you will work with Cybersecurity teams to establish policies that protect critical OT systems, develop contingency and disaster recovery plans, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and corporate policies.
Job Qualifications
What You Need to Succeed
To excel in this role, you bring a post-secondary education in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, with a master’s degree or professional certifications in OT-related fields will be an asset. You have experience in operational technology, automation, or industrial systems, including in a leadership role. Your background includes extensive experience in mining, heavy industry, or similar sectors, with a strong understanding of mining operations and OT systems. You are skilled in managing and optimizing OT systems to improve productivity, safety, and efficiency in operational environments. Your expertise includes digital transformation, IoT, AI, and data & analytics, as well as a deep understanding of ICS, SCADA, PLCs, DCS, MES, PIMS, and other enterprise systems. Knowledge of cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST) and best practices for OT systems are essential.
As a strategic leader, you excel in influencing cross-functional teams, driving change management, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and zero harm. Your PMP and Six Sigma certifications are an asset. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills allow you to build trusted relationships across the organization and beyond.
