Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Accountant will assist with the accounting, reporting and analysis of the Corporate and Nitrogen, Phosphate, and Potash (NPK) Business Unit results. This position requires a high degree of cross-department and cross-operating segment interaction. The Corporate Accounting department operates with a significant number of deadlines and reporting obligations and as such, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
What You Will Do
- Preparation of the quarterly accounting and reporting for asset retirement obligations and environmental reclamation liabilities.
- Responsible for the preparation of Corporate and NPK operating segment management reporting, including P&L and Balance Sheet Variance analysis.
- Completion of monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Preparation of other month-end close activities as assigned.
- Prepare schedules, reports, and requests for other internal departments such as External Reporting and Financial Planning & Analysis.
- Prepare information requests from external and internal auditors.
- Support and assist with continuous improvement initiatives and projects as required.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a recognized institution; CPA designation preferred or actively working towards one considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years’ accounting experience required with a strong working knowledge of IFRS and application of the concepts.
- Results oriented, with ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
- Experience with data and variance analysis, including researching causes and providing clear explanations.
- Strong attention to details combined with the ability to see the big picture.
- Excellent analytical skills, problem solving and decision-making capability.
- Demonstrated time management skills, and ability to prioritize when involved with multiple initiatives and changing priorities.
- Experience using SAP, Oracle, consolidation system BPC/EPM, HANA cubes and Power Query would be considered an asset.
