About The Role
We are seeking a forward thinking and talented individual to take on the key role of
Network Engineer Reporting to the
Superintendent IS&T. This is an exciting opportunity for a high performing professional to work with a high-performance team which is part of our global Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) Operations Support Team, supporting Weipa Operations.
Key accountabilities include
- Provide subject matter expertise to support teams to resolve priority issues.
- Establish positive working relationships with operations, support functions and project teams
- Design, implement, and maintain the company's network infrastructure
- Configure and troubleshoot network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues
- Keep up to date with emerging networking technologies and recommend updates or improvements to the network infrastructure
- Provide technical support to end-users for network-related issues
- Ensure disruption to operations resulting from network and communication system-based activities are minimised or eliminated.
- Governance to ensure all network changes and maintenance to the Weipa network is done as per the site and global standards
- Work with stakeholders to design network solutions as per incoming demand
What You’ll Bring
- Exceptional soft skills and ability to engage all levels of our organisation effectively.
- Experience/exposure to operational networks in a mining or similar environment.
- Knowledge in configuring and managing Cisco Wireless Networks
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, routing, and switching.
- Experience with protocols like OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and MPLS.
- Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, and network access controls.
- Previous experience in the design & planning of network operations
- Experience with the use & maintenance of fibre/ structured cabling
- Proficient in the use of MS Visio for the completion of Network Documentation
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of Core Network Services (i.e. DHCP, DNS, NTP, SNMP)
- IT / OT background. Industry experience is preferable.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with a diverse range of customers, peers and management.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contribute to a culture of teamwork and take a shared responsibility for achieving results
