Job description:
Overall Job Purpose:
To ensure that all mining activities, machinery, and infrastructure meet legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Conduct inspections, audits, and assessments to verify compliance, prepare reports, liaise with regulatory bodies, and advise management on corrective actions to prevent legal or operational risks. Their work is critical to maintaining safe, legal, and efficient mining operations.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
Technology Authority (ZICTA) and Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) for FQM Trident Limited.
Facilitate statutory examinations on statutory equipment such lifting appliances, (Mobile, Overhead and Truck Mounted Cranes, Forklifts, etc), Boilers, Air receivers and Blasting pots.
Facilitate statutory audits with Zambian regulators such Mine Safety Department (MSD), National Council for Construction (NCC), Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ), Radiation Protection Authority (RPA), Engineering Registration Board (EngRB), Zambia Coordinating all Statutory Compliances with Zambian regulators such Mine Safety Department (MSD), National Council for Construction (NCC), Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ), Radiation Protection Authority (RPA), Engineering Registration Board (EngRB), Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA), Zambia Information and Communications Metrology Agency (ZMA), Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) and Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) for FQM Trident Limited.
Coordinate information to keep FQM Trident up-to-date on new or revised regulations that may be relevant to running of the business
Contribute to ensuring that incidents are kept to a minimum and participate in the investigations of incidents/accidents and a review of procedures and relevant logbooks.
Ensure Contractor Statutory Compliance to EIZ, ZMA, NCC and RPA Acts.
Coordinate statutory legal appointments and submission of MSD ratifiable legal appointments with various licence holders and appointed Managers under Mining Regulation 202.
Ensure that updated legal appointment org-charts and legal appointment registers for FQM Trident.
Coordinates the safe custody of statutory compliance document, certificates, licenses, legal appointment letters for competent persons and equipment log books
Compilation and maintenance of an updated statutory equipment legal registers for FQM Trident Limited and Contractors.
Generating and sending out Monthly Statutory Compliance Reports on the status of statutory equipment across FQM Trident Limited operations and as well as Adhoc Reports on various statutory requirements relating to MSD, EIZ, RPA, ZMA, NCC
Statutory Compliance Books
Ensure that Statutory Compliance Equipment Logbooks and Mining Regulations books kept in the warehouse have the right content as well as quality.
Provide guidance and approval of any the revisions to the artwork for statutory compliance books.
Training and development
Provide liaison with the Technical Training Department on all training relating to statutory equipment and legal responsibility to ensure that the training meets the requirements of the Zambian Mining Regulations.
Identify needs for specialised training requirements on statutory equipment examinations and legal requirements liaise with training for implementation.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in RFCAs on statutory equipment and ensure that recommendations are implemented to improve safety of statutory equipment.
Providing suitable recommendations to improve statutory compliance monitoring and tracking such as the use software and / or Microsoft Excel Packages
Providing recommendations to improve statutory equipment inspections, examinations and testing within the provisions of the Zambian Mining Regulations as a minimum.

Key Job Attributes:
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum Eight years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering (after obtaining qualifications).
Minimum of five years’ experience in a Mining Environment.
Experience in performing Mine Mechanical Engineer functions is required
Excellent knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems.
Able to read and understand Engineering drawings.
Knowledge of Mining, Industry and Environmental Regulations.
Leadership or supervisory skills.
Computer literate, in Microsoft Computer packages such as Word, Excel, Power point
Minimum grade 12 certificate
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Registered member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
Registered as a professional Engineer at the Engineering Registration Board of Zambia (ERB)
A legal qualification will be advantage
Valid Zambian light vehicle driver’s license
