Newmont’s Merian operation in Suriname is an open pit gold mine approximately 66km south of the town Moengo and 30 km north of the Nassau Mountains near the French Guiana. Newmont owns a 75 percent interest in the limited partnership and Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V., Suriname’s state-owned oil company, owns the remaining 25 percent interest.

Your impact
Manage a team of warehousing professionals that manage warehouse operations, manage and optimize inventory levels, plan and coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, and develop maintenance plans and shutdowns while driving a culture of safety.
As Part of Our Team You Will
In this role, the individual will:
- Lead and coordinate a team of professionals to formulate and execute Warehouse Management Strategies and implement all enterprise strategies on site.
- Coordinate warehouse management strategies that align with regional teams and site specific commercial, enterprise, and business unit strategies.
- Handle all warehouse operations and inbound and outbound logistics.
- Refine inventory levels to ensure the availability of critical parts while balancing overall inventory carrying costs.
- Formulate and maintain a culture of standards for safety and plan event incident responses.
- Implement rapid response planning for the site.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma, Lean Logistics, or similar) are a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in warehouse or logistics management roles.
- At least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory position, preferably in large-scale mining or heavy industry operations.
- Proven experience managing warehouse operations in remote or challenging environments (e.g., mine sites).
- Strong background in inventory control, stock optimization, and materials handling for mining operations.
Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) for warehouse and inventory management.
- Familiarity with mining equipment, spare parts management, and critical supplies.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements in mining logistics.
- English is a must, Dutch preferred.

Where you will be located!
This position is located at Merian, project sites. Merian is a remote site located in a warm, humid tropical rainforest environment
The Merian mine is located in Northeastern Suriname, approximately 98 kilometers southeast of the capital city of Paramaribo and 60 kilometers south of Moengo.
Accommodation is in a camp/village environment near the workplace
Suriname has a tropical climate with dry and two rainy seasons, with anticipated tropical rainfall of 1.5m to 2.5m of rain per year
