Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. Located in South America, Suriname was originally settled as a Dutch colony, is very culturally diverse and enjoys a tropical climate. The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Purpose
Support the Material Planning function by performing transactions and tasks effectively and efficiently to ensure that the right materials are available at the right time and in the correct quantities to meet production, repair, and maintenance demands.
Essential Duties
- Prepare forecasts and material plans based on trends and known plans for repairs and routine maintenance.
- Liaise with inventory procurement team to give sufficient advance notice based on supplier lead times to procure and receive goods and services when needed.
- Supervise inbound orders to ensure inventory arrives on time and take appropriate action on delayed orders.
- Assess the levels of materials to ensure optimal stock is maintained to ensure critical parts are available while also monitoring slow moving or newly obsolete inventory.
- Supervise and provide inventory KPIs and Performance Management including parts availability.
Training & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration or related field, or an Associate’s degree with relevant experience required.Certification, such as Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) is advantageous.
- Broad business knowledge and focus, ability to recognize issues, problems and capitalize on opportunities. Expertise in and forecasting techniques to align supply with production needs.In-depth knowledge of ERP systems for managing material planning and inventory levels.
- Strong understanding of the full supply chain, including procurement, logistics, and inventory management, with specific knowledge of supply chain needs in the mining industry.Familiarity with mining-specific materials and consumables, including an understanding of lead times, critical spare parts, and the unique demands of mining operations.
- Understanding of HSE policies related to materials planning and the handling of materials at mining sites.Experience in inventory control and management in mining environments or heavy industrial sectors.Hands-on experience with ERP systems for material planning and tracking.
- Experience working closely with procurement, operations, logistics, and site teams to ensure materials are delivered on time and meet production needs.Experience identifying and addressing supply chain disruptions, production delays, or inventory shortages by adjusting planning strategies.
- Business acumen skills related to inventory management best practices in regionInventory Control processes and protocolsAnalytical skills to manage data, analyze demand trends, and forecast material needs to minimize downtime and excess inventoryWorking Capital management, specifically balancing stocked inventory levels to risk of stockouts and the cost of obsolescence and slow-moving parts Organizational skillsSAP Inventory and reportingCollaboration, communication and interpersonal skills.
