Your Next Challenge
Your Contribution:
As an Intern reporting to the Nunavut Exploration Coordinator, you'll be integrated into the Nunavut Exploration Department and collaborate closely with other Departments of the operation. Your role will involve ensuring the achievement of set goals and objectives while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental values.
- Support our team in planning and overseeing diamond drilling exploration programs;
- Process and describe the drill core;
- Support our team in the planning and execution of field exploration program, mapping of geological information, channel sampling, structural mapping and prospecting;
- Interpret data obtained from observations and develop geological maps which describe the extent and orientation of geological units, structures and ore zones;
- Participate in the reporting of drilling and mapping activities;
- Participate in the health & safety meetings and ensure that environmental and safety protocols are followed on the work sites.
What You Need To Succeed
What You Need To Succeed:
- Enrolled in an academic program in geology or geological engineering;
- Have knowledge of metallogeny, structural geology, geochemistry and geophysics;
- Cultural awareness and understanding of work in the Canadian Arctic are an asset;
- Good communication skills in English, written and spoken;
- Must have strong interpersonal, communication and team building skills;
- Must be autonomous and have good organizational skills;
- Hold a valid driver’s license (class 5).
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 21 days of work in Nunavut, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kitikmeot region or Edmonton, Alberta.
- Accommodation and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
