Reporting to the Superintendent – Shovels and Excavators
, you will be responsible for managing, scheduling, and maintenance of large-scale earthmoving equipment such as Komatsu PC 700, Komatsu PC 1250, Komatsu PC 2000, Komatsu PC 3000 Komatsu PC 4000 and Komatsu PC 7000 to PC 8000 power shovels and Heavy Earthmoving Equipment as assigned.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate the activities of the LMC technicians and OEM maintenance teams at Lumwana
- Manage and prioritize work orders, ensure proper documentation, and coordinate necessary approvals.
- Analyze equipment performance to identify opportunities to improve uptime and maximize the performance of the assets.
- Maximize plant availability through the identification and implementation of planning system improvements.
- Provision of efficient maintenance management and repair for shovels, communications and shovels functions in the mining area.
- Enforce and promote safety and environmental policies, ensure personnel are properly trained, and manage incident reporting.
- Ensure that maintenance activities are managed efficiently with a view to cost and production, and in accordance with sound work management procedures.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in developing strategies, maintenance processes and systems.
- Scheduling, coordinating shovel repairs and major component change outs.
- Cooperate with the maintenance planners and operations regarding input schedules and accurate information.
- Carry out routine and statutory inspections.
- Carry out structured routine safety inspections in cooperation with field maintenance staff
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
- Minimum Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or other related Engineering field.
- Significant 6 years experience in Heavy Earthmoving Equipment maintenance.
- Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia
- Minimum of 5 years frontline supervisory experience.
- Medium level of competency in the use of CMMS systems (e.g., SAP), MS office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Project, Power Point)
- Holder of a valid Zambian driver’s license; will be an added advantage.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
