About The Role

We are looking for a Geology Technician to provide technical support to the Mining Operations division through further refinement of our understanding of geological aspects of the mining operation.
This is a great opportunity to work within the Mine Technical Services team at IOC; the role involves supporting grade control, reconciliation, and resource modeling activities to ensure accurate geological data and effective ore quality management.
Reporting to Superintendent Geoscience and working in an exciting and unique environment within the at our Labrador City operations, you will be responsible for
- Sampling drill cuttings from active drill & blast patterns
- Delivery of samples to lab and input into IOC’s geological database
- Mapping ore and waste zones in drill & blast patterns
- Regular updates of operational mine maps, with mining equipment locations and ore/waste types
- Survey and logistical support for diamond drilling programs
- Supporting the mine survey, geotech, and hydrogeology teams when required
- Assisting with drill core processing
What You’ll Bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods
- Able to complete repetitive manual labor – lifting 20-pound samples.
- Ability to work closely with technical/non-technical peers at different levels of expertise
- Able to work alone or as part of a larger team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
- Safety Orientated focus on individual and team performance

It will also be beneficial if you have
- Experience collecting geologic information
- Operational experience in open-pit mining
- Experience with Maptek Vulcan and AcQuire software
