About the role:
Reporting to the Engineer Manager, the Senior Engineer Supervisor Geotechnical is responsible for leading a team that directs all geotechnical functions at the mine site, from day-to-day operational support to longer term technical analysis.
To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills who is a motivated self starter, organized, and able to prioritize contending demands. Technical and leadership skills are both highly valued, as these skills are vital for leading and mentoring our geotechnical team to success.
The successful candidate will also play an active role in the broader EVR geotechnical community through ongoing collaboration with geotechnical personnel in our other engineering groups.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Lead a small team of geotechnical professionals to ensure both high performance and continuous development
- Apply geotechnical expertise to pit walls, waste dumps, blast vibration analysis, and soil slopes and other structures
- Design and implement programs (both technical and training) to identify, eliminate, or mitigate geotechnical hazards and improve designs
- Coordinate and maintain site geotechnical programs, including monitoring systems
- Coordinate and review work by external geotechnical consultants.
- Review short- and long-range plans for geotechnical hazards, data gaps, and design deficiencies
- Key the point of contact between a diverse range of key stakeholders at site
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological, Geotechnical, or Civil Engineering
- Registered as a P.Eng with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC)
- Minimum eight years’ relevant geotechnical experience, including a recent geotechnical role at a large open pit mining operation
- Understanding of industry standard geotechnical software and the Microsoft Office Suite®
- Experience in geotechnical data analysis, site investigations, project evaluation, and management
- Contractor management experience considered a very strong asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
