About The Goldfield District Project
Located on the Walker Lane trend in Esmeralda County, Nevada, about 30 miles south of Tonopah, the Goldfield District Project can be accessed via U.S. Highway 95 from Las Vegas or Reno. This project is conventional open-pit, heap leach project in a prolific mining jurisdiction that provides substantial upside potential.
Goldfield District Project promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a
Project Engineer to join our Goldfield Project team located in
Goldfield, Nevada. This is a two-year contract role with the possibility to extend based on business needs and requirements. The position also requires regular travel to various sites and may transition to a rotational schedule in the future as the operations evolve.
Reporting to the Project Director, the role is responsible for supporting and managing project development activities for the Goldfield Project during the pre-construction, construction, commissioning and handover phases.
The Project Engineer will support all duties of the Project Director while also providing onsite coverage in Nevada as a cross-shift to oversee field activities. The role will act as an interface between various project disciplines such as Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Environmental, Safety, Construction Management and corporate objectives and messaging. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in engineering, design of large-scale mining operations, and oversight of project planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning, with knowledge of North American construction approaches.
Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
General & Technical - Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental corporate and regional objectives are met in all planning and development activities.
- Oversee the use and development of company-wide processes, systems and practices, specifically relating to the project execution.
- Supervise the use of systems to control and accurately monitor scope, cost and schedule.
- Generally oversee the work and progress of the key individuals reporting to the Project Director Manager including:
- Procurement & Contracting Senior Manager
- Environmental Coordinator
- Engineering Manager
- Specific Engineering Consultants
- Construction Manager
- Support permitting ongoing efforts.
- Support in engineering activities, and coordination between the various consultants to ensure cohesive design integration and advancing engineering activities per the Project Schedule:
- Coordinate and interface with venders, suppliers, stakeholders (internal and external) and other design disciplines to execute assigned engineering work.
- Review technical documents, such as: engineering drawings (including GAs, DDs, EDs), design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, component specification sheets, commissioning specifications, etc.
- Guide procurement activities (specifically Long Lead Procurement) to ensure packages are launched in time for delivery per Construction Schedule:
- Participation in the overall procurement process, including scope definition, specification preparation, datasheet population, tender evaluation and recommendation, contract award, kick-off meetings, and expediting both internal and external parties to meet the schedule requirements.
- Review and execute on the Project Execution Plan for both Early Works and Full Construction of the Goldfield Project.
- Support operations readiness process, in close coordination with the Goldfield General Manager.
- Act as a cross-shift to the Project Director in Nevada.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Reporting
- Lead the development of all corporate reporting including Monthly Reports, SteerCo’s, Quarterly Updates and others as needed.
- Preparation of minutes of meeting for various project meetings and following up on action items with responsible personnel to ensure that items are closed out completely and on time.
Project Support
- Ensure broad or “out-of-the-box” thinking is allowed to occur with respect to projects in evaluation and feasibility to maximize value.
- At all stages of the project, promote continuous value-added thinking and execution to support project economics.
About You
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline or related technical diploma supported by relevant experience.
- Preferred, but not an absolute requirement: A licensed professional engineer in good standing.
- 7-15+ years of related industry experience, in the areas of engineering development and management, project management and execution and project readiness preparation on Mining Projects.
- Candidates with previous experience in the on-site execution of mining construction projects (>$200M) will be prioritized.
- Prior management experience with operations, corporate and site personnel.
- Interact with a wide range of personalities and achieve core objectives.
- Ability to develop and maintain a strong client/service provider relationship with management and local stakeholders.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team in a remote and difficult environment.
- Exposure to international projects which require frequent travel.
- Language skills in English, and Spanish (asset).
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of the project development process flow within the mineral industry.
- Strong Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
- Drive to deliver a high quality work product.
- Dissect critical issue to define key drivers.
- Ability to execute plans and tasks within schedule and budget is essential.
- Strong decision making & problem solving skills, with appropriate risk management competencies.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
