The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

REFINER
Responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the refinery. Work collaboratively with the team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule, specifically gold shipments.
Undertake specific projects to improve production refinery performance.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
Safe and reliable refinery operation.
- Ensure safe and reliable recovery of gold cathodes and smelting of bullion.
- Maintain housekeeping of refinery to ensure a safe working environment.
- Track reagent usage and ensure sufficient inventory of refinery consumables.
- Investigate whether methods being used are the most efficient, safe, and environmentally acceptable.
- Troubleshoot and optimize circuit performance and gold production, as well as reagent usage to minimize cost.
- Prepare reports and written materials related to technical recommendation and improvements to refinery operations.
- Plan gold shipments with the mill metallurgy and security teams.
- Work closely will maintenance planners to efficiently plan maintenance work in the refinery.
- Identify safety and environmental hazards in the workplace and work together with health and safety to mitigate them in a timely manner.
- Validate lock-out tag-out sheets (LOTO) for refinery equipment.
- Assist with the development and revision of procedures as well as job hazard analys.
- Other duties as required.
Area 2
Operational excellence.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety and increase productivity of the refinery.
- Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
- Continually seek to improve your skills as a Refiner.
- Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
- Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
- Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problem.
- Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).
Area 3
Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.
- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
- Work collaboratively with vendors, consultants and contractors where required.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications Or Equivalents
- Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
- Technical diploma in mineral processing, metallurgy or other related field is considered an asset.
Work experience - Nature & Length
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in gold refining and/or mineral processing.

- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Good observational and analytical skills.
- Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality.
