Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Mine General Supervisor, you will be part of the Underground Mine Department. You will be a central point of contact for the underground operations and will monitor the performance of mine production activities and relay information to supervision as needed. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Monitor Mine Activities
- Monitor and operate ventilation network;
- Monitor and operate dewatering network;
- Active monitoring of underground power consumption and respond to abnormal values & alarms;
- Monitor equipment and material movement and feed data into fleet management software;
- Assist mine operation supervisors on activities being conducted underground, ensure maximization of resources with the utilization of availability and time usage.
- Control restricted areas, hot work locations and personnel working alone;
- Control and initiate underground blast & blasting co-activity with pit operation;
Material Movement
- Active monitoring of material movement activities;
- Intervene as required to ensure load and haul compliance assisted by load scan;
Equipment Availability
- Real time monitoring of equipment’s status and validation of delay code/failure;
- Communicate with maintenance department to ensure optimal use of availability;
- Monitoring and advise production team of inefficiencies;
Emergency Deployment
- Triages calls to incident commander;
- Responsible for initiating stench gas in emergencies;
Reporting
- Data validation of activities;
- Generate daily and weekly performance reports to explain the highlights, problems and potential future issues;
- Compile delays and lost production time;
- Show proactivity and propose solutions to inefficiency;
Other Tasks
- Help in implementation of new technologies and help the expansion of control room in the operation;
- Control underground access for temporary visitors to the mine;
- Help with special projects as required.
What You Need To Succeed
- Mine Technologist or two (2) years in underground operations or mine planning;
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices;
- Familiarity with health and safety hazards and regulation specific to mining;
- Commitment to ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with the latest industry practices and technologies;
- Interest or ability to participate in underground mine rescue;
- Hold or eligible for a valid First Aid Certificate;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
