About the Role
Reporting to the Surface Maintenance Services Manager, as the Superintendent Shutdowns and Contracts, you will be responsible for the oversight of safe, successful and well-executed shutdowns that occur up to 12 times a year in the Surface operations portfolio, inclusive of the areas Concentrator, Hydromet, Smelter, Acid Plant and Refinery’s.
You will provide shutdown management both during planning, execution and close out phases, coordination of critical shutdown resources, equipment and materials, interfaces with Production, Maintenance, Reliability, Technical, Logistics and Planning teams to deliver shutdowns as per the forecast plan, safely and to budget.
You will provide strategic and tactical leadership to a team who assist, co-ordinate and maintain the compliance and performance of contracts whilst seeking operational and commercial efficiencies across BHP Olympic Dam Surface. You will provide contractor management subject matter expertise and advice to leaders within Olympic Dam, and to act as the Contract Owner for contractors used across the site.
This is an Olympic Dam based role on a 5/2, 4/3 roster (with flexibility throughout shutdown periods). You can elect to reside in Roxby Downs or FIFO from Adelaide.
In this role you will:

Oversee end to end delivery of Surface Shutdowns

Plan in conjunction with planning and asset health teams all surface shutdowns

Execute in conjunction with execution teams all surface shutdowns

Develop and maintain compliance to shutdown budget

Coordinate contracting teams to safely deliver shutdown scopes of works

Undertake contract ownership for key maintenance services & construction, contractors, labour hire vendors, with a primary focus on the safe delivery of services across the site

Develop or contribute to contract strategy & management processes

Lead contractor performance review meetings & forums, ensuring performance feedback is collated from all end users & delivered to the contractors in a timely manner

Actively manage contractor performance & the health of the company's contracting arrangements

Support tender processes in an operational context

Provide strategic direction related to effective Contract Leadership, including benchmarking internally & externally identifying Continuous Improvement opportunities
About You
With a strong commitment to safety, you will have demonstrated leadership capability combined with experience in operations and/or contract management in a heavy industry environment. This will be combined with experience and background working within shutdown and maintenance planning activities.
Your superior stakeholder engagement will foster collaborative working relationships across our teams where you will apply critical thinking to the development while having the ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and organisational levels to create buy-in and influence outcomes.
You will be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and supporting your team to achieve and deliver excellent results.
You will be able to demonstrate:

Significant experience with contractor management with previous contract ownership / contract administration experience

Shutdown and/or Maintenance planning and execution experience

Preferred Trade based background

Leadership of diverse teams and direct reports

Well-developed skills with 1SAP, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
