Your Impact
Formulate and execute cross-functional mine plans that optimize mine planning activities to meet 5-year Life of Mine (LOM) business objectives and Reserves & Resource deliverables
As part of our team you will
- Utilize subject matter expertise to formulate optimized long-term mine designs and detailed phase designs, outlining the sequence of mining operations over the life of the mine.
- Formulate and maintain an Integrated long-term plan for the mine, detailed 5-year production plans, development milestones, and closure activities.
- Conduct options analysis for different mining scenarios to support strategic decision-making.
- Take responsibility for estimating mineral reserves and resources in accordance with international reporting standards.
- Formulate and execute a cutoff grade strategy that optimizes the economic return from mining operations for the site.
- Coordinate the conceptual design process for mining projects, focusing on innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Update extension plans based on exploration results and changing market conditions.
- Integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into planning.
- Present mine/phase designs, options/tradeoffs, and LOM schedules to stakeholders for approval and feedback, and facilitate regular reviews of the long-term plan to incorporate new data and strategic shifts.
- Assess and analyze data and recommend strategies to improve and streamline planning processes, ensuring adherence to business goals and regulatory requirements.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- Degree-qualified Mining Engineer with practical site experience in open-pit or underground mining.
- Working knowledge of mine planning, including design, scheduling, business planning, resource-to-reserve conversion, and business improvement.
- Recognized Competent/Qualified Person for MRMR.
- Understanding of operational value drivers in mining operations.
- Expertise in underground and/or open-pit mine design and scheduling optimization.
- Knowledge of mine automation and related technologies.
- Proficiency in mine engineering design and scheduling software, including Deswik and/or Minesight.
- Familiarity with functional cost modeling and associated tools.
- Experience in mine plan compliance monitoring and safety-in-design concepts.
- Ability to lead through influence and collaboration.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to leadership.
- Technical skills in mine design and scheduling, with proficiency in mine planning concepts and procedures for both underground and open-pit operations.
- Advanced proficiency in either underground mine planning or open-pit software applications.
- Competent in designing and implementing solutions to optimize value and reduce variability in mine planning.
- Competent in functional cost modeling and the application of related tools.
- Competent in people management, with the ability to generate stakeholder buy-in and lead through influence at a site leadership level to deliver integrated plans.
- Competent in managing time constraints, competing priorities, and work prioritization in a multidisciplinary environment to meet business needs.
- Advanced proficiency in relevant mining software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced English and Spanish (spoken and written).
Your work environment
The position will require travel to appropriate locations (Mostly Cajamarca/Site and Lima) to support the operation.
The position will require periodic living in the Yanacocha camp.
The person must be in good health and physical condition to work in the field in various climatic conditions and at altitudes of up to 4,000 meters above sea level.
The incumbent may be required to travel and assist other sites nationally and internationally.
