About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. Role Overview/Purpose
The geological technician works and collaborates with other members of the geology department under the supervision of the production geologist. They assist in the determination and control of the ore grade in development headings and production stopes and of the dilution encountered.
Primary Responsibilities
- Foster and promote a culture of safe work practices.
- Oversee the quality control at the RC drill rig during drilling operation.
- Conduct sampling activities at the drill rig.
- Prepare sample batch sheets, organize tokes and assist with the preparation of all samples for shipping.
- Be prepared to carry heavy loads in all weather conditions.
- Work for extensive periods outside in all weather conditions.
- Take care of and drive geology vehicles as needed for daily tasks.
- Conduct sampling as per request in the pit.
- Stake out ore block on blasted muck, updating as required.
- Data entry into the drilling database.
- Assist with the field training of new Geology Technicians.
- Basic surveying (layout/pick up points)
- Adhoc tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience
- High-school graduation with related post-secondary training
- A valid driver’s license (G class)
- Familiar with Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Prior survey experience is an asset
- Have leadership skills, be motivated, and enjoy working in remote areas.

- Must have excellent organizational skills.

Working Conditions
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather and conditions. This will be 7 day on 7 day off rotation, and will rotate between day and night shift.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding job where the incumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis, do repetitive tasks with few breaks, and so forth.
