About The Role
Are you interested in how legal strategy and business decision-making come together in a complex global industry? Curious about the legal, commercial, and operational factors that shape mining projects? Join IAMGOLD as a Legal & Business Development Intern and gain meaningful, hands-on experience at the intersection of law, strategy, and business growth.
In this role, you’ll support both the Legal and Business Development teams—working alongside senior counsel and business leaders to contribute to cross-functional projects, legal research, commercial analysis, and strategic initiatives. This internship offers a unique opportunity to build practical skills, expand your understanding of corporate law and commercial strategy, and support real projects in a dynamic environment.
The Internship is from May 4, 2026 to August 28, 2026.

What You’ll Do
Legal Research & Analysis
- Conduct research on regulatory, compliance, and operational matters relevant to the mining sector.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and organizing contracts, internal memos, and company policies.
Business Development Support
- Analyze market trends, commodities, commercial risks, and potential business opportunities.
- Support due diligence and integration processes for potential acquisitions or strategic partnerships.
Cross‑Functional Projects
- Collaborate on initiatives that blend legal and business perspectives, including:
- Contract and NDA reviews
- Risk assessments
- Commercial evaluations
- Support for negotiations
Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare presentations, briefing notes, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings with legal, BD, operations, and corporate teams to support shared initiatives.
Administrative & Organizational Support
- Maintain organized records of contracts, legal documents, and project files.
- Assist with scheduling, communications, and project tracking to keep initiatives moving smoothly.
Key Skills & Knowledge
What You Bring
- Currently enrolled in a JD/MBA or JD program with interest in business, commercial law, or corporate strategy.
- Strong academic performance in law and/or business coursework.
- Previous experience in legal, business, consulting, finance, or related roles is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or collaboratively.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential matters.
