About Lihir
Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Purpose
It is the role of the Supervisor, Assest Management, Front End Maintenance to ensure the assets within the Concentrators including the Blayney Filter Plant, Gold Room and ancillary infrastructure are maintained to allow the processing plant to achieve the required rate at the required utilisation while realising maximum metal recovery and optimum concentrate grade.
Essential Duties
- Ensuring Technicians capture and raise issues within their respective areas using the tools and systems provided e.g. work notifications, hazard cards, T-Cards etc
- Ensure work notifications are being entered and actioned with the correct detail and within the prescribed time frame. Any notifications that are rejected should be accompanied with an e-mail to the originator and Maintenance Foreman explaining the reason for rejection. Prioritising mechanical work orders as the main focus
- Ensure a structured maintenance system is understood and complied with by the work team. This includes overseeing compliance to the Weekly Maintenance Plan and providing feedback daily on issues that prevented the daily plan being executed effectively

- Ensure at the end of each shift all planned work has been completed or re-scheduled. It is acceptable to leave work open that is either continuing on or being performed out or sequence in that planning week
- Ensure on the completion of all maintenance tasks that all parts, materials, tools etc. are removed and the area is handed back
- Ensure assigned production loss events that have been captured within the CHESS system have quality investigations carried out to ensure a reoccurrence is not seen
- Ensuring all critical issues are highlighted and communicated to the Maintenance Coordinator, Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Scheduler, Operations Coordinator and Maintenance Foreman so they can be captured in the next available maintenance plan.
- Manage the content of breakdown work orders to ensure only genuine breakdown issue are being captured.
- Ensure the relationships between the Operations, Site AOC, Engineering, Planning, Supply and relevant contracting companies are productive, seamless and constantly improved
- Ensure compliance to completion of all pre-start checks on mobile equipment/vehicles, welders, lifting equipment, overhead cranes etc.This includes the correct documentation to be completed and this documentation to be delivered to the required location.
- Ensure compliance to completion of all work orders as per the prescribed process and time frame.
- Ensure when completing work orders they are constantly challenged in regard to time, detail, relevance, frequency, BOM accuracy etc. Any suggested changes to these should go through the appropriate system to change these e.g. MoC or Green Form.
Training & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or trade-related fields; advanced qualifications preferred.
- Proven leadership experience in Fixed Plant maintenance in a mining operations.
- Comprehensive in metals extraction and processing within large-scale plants, administrative services, procurement, financial management, and budgeting.
- Strong familiarity with safety, health, environmental regulations, and risk management practices.
- Experienced in managing and influencing relationships across multiple organisational levels.
- Strong technical competence in heavy industrial environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP desirable
- Strong skills in budgeting, cost management, and financial oversight.
- Proficient in using KPIs and analytics for continuous improvement.
Working Conditions
- Willingness to work FIFO in PNG.
- Must pass a pre-employment medical.
- Valid Police Clearance (issued within the last 6 months).
