Your Impact
To develop tactical 5-year plans for Openpit mines which align with the LOM plan and Business goals for the site. Execute work with appropriate granularity to feed the Operations planning processes, including phased development, quarterly forecasts, risk management, continuous improvement (FP) and investment system requirements (site based studies). 5-Year Engineer collaborates with LTP, Site TS and functional support teams to continuously improving designs/plans, introduce innovative approaches and advanced mining technologies, to improve plan confidence and reduce execution risk.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
In this role, the individual will:
- Monitor and maintain pit designs and schedules based on operational performance and changing conditions. Liaise with team members to validate and refine plans.
- Schedule and prepare for the phased development of mining pits to align with production targets, and life of mine plans.
- Combine LOM planning with Site ST(0 - 2yrs) planning to form an integrated schedule.
- Provide and enhance granularity of Planning Options for the 5YP with more accurate Capital cost estimations.
- Administer detailed risk analyses, and prepare mitigation strategies for identified risks and combine them into the planning process.
- Prepare forecasts for operational expenditures Opex and sustaining capital expenditures Capex as part of the 5-year planning process.
- Prepare and schedule the development of stockpiles, waste dumps, and leach pads to optimize storage, blending and treatment processes.
- Execute a dynamic planning approach that allows for adjustments based on external and internal changes.
- Support continuous improvement of planning methodologies and tools. Execute innovative mining techniques and technologies to improve Open Pit operations.
Training & Experience
- Degree qualified Mining Engineer, with practical Openpit Mining Engineering experience, in all aspects of Operational Planning (STP/MTP) to ensure an executable 5-Year plan is developed.
- Openpit mine design and tactical scheduling expertise to produce the physicals output for Business and LOM plans (5year).
- Understand Operational value drivers in Openpit operations.
- Tactical Openpit mine design and scheduling optimization.
- Mine engineering design and scheduling, including Minesight/Vulcan/Deswik software. Knowledge of functional Cost modeling and tools.
- Understand Mine plan compliance monitoring and Reconciliation.
- Work with TS and Xfunctional teams through close collaboration.
- Ability to spend time on sites, and communicate practical mine plans to operations leadership teams.
- Proficiency in English required, additional language capability (Spanish, Dutch) an asset.
- Technical skills in terms of Openpit Mine design and scheduling, with proficiency in short term planning, Phase design, and schedule optimization for Open-pit operations.
- Advanced proficiency in application of Openpit Mine design and Planning Software tools, for generating detailed tactical plans.
- Competent proficiency in designing and implementing solutions to optimize sequence and mitigate risk in 5-year plans.
- Competent proficiency in Functional Cost modeling and application of tools.
- Competent ability to generate stakeholder buy-in for Tactical plans through influence with Site operational teams.
- Working knowledge of Site Operational Planning processes.
- Competent proficiency in managing competing priorities and work prioritization, in a multidisciplinary environment, to meet business needs.
- Competent proficiency in relevant mining software, and in the use of with Microsoft Office Suite.

Remote work location, with the ability to work in Regional office, Lima or Denver and travel to site depending on business requirements.
