Newmont’s Merian operation in Suriname is an open pit gold mine approximately 66km south of the town Moengo and 30 km north of the Nassau Mountains near the French Guiana. Newmont owns a 75 percent interest in the limited partnership and Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V., Suriname’s state-owned oil company, owns the remaining 25 percent interest.

Your impact
Lead the HME team efforts to ensure strategic alignment and efficient and reliable execution for the Merian Mine Maintenance Tyre fleet.
As Part of Our Team You Will
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- Knowledge of functioning mining operations in a remote location, understanding of mining processes and terminology, supported with practical experience in a leadership role.
- Qualified training in HME Fleets, Caterpillar, from a recognized institute is desired along with 10 +years in a senior leadership role within Mine Maintenance environment. .
- Completion of a certified program of competence as a Technician or Mechanical Tradesperson. Machinist, with Welding to the equivalent of Certification, AWS or CWB welding certification.
- English is a must, dutch preferred.
For this Superintendent, HME Tyre Fleet role, the applicant must demonstrate advanced proficiency in these areas.
- Identify practical application proficiency in maintenance planning and reliability engineering that best supports these activities within your organization.
- The role also necessitates familiarity with relevant tools and software for maintenance scheduling, performance monitoring, and predictive maintenance.
- The applicant should have a high level of knowledge off applicable engineering codes and standards associated with a mining operations both fixed and mobile assets. .
- Appropriate Supervisor accreditation Strong communication skills Strong administrative skills and attention to detail to review and manage weekly plans and budgets. Competent computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word Document, and Excel. Working understanding of Asset management frame works.
- Have acquired knowledge of the SAP work management system. Capable of learning Newmont’s FRM safety applications.

Your Work Environment
This position is located at Merian, project sites. Merian is a remote site located in a warm, humid tropical rainforest environment
The Merian mine is located in Northeastern Suriname, approximately 98 kilometers southeast of the capital city of Paramaribo and 60 kilometers south of Moengo.
Accommodation is in a camp/village environment near the workplace
Suriname has a tropical climate with dry and two rainy seasons, with anticipated tropical rainfall of 1.5m to 2.5m of rain per year
