About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. Purpose
Responsible for ensuring industrial machinery and mechanical equipment operate safely and efficiently through maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting activities.
SAFETY AND SUSTAINABILITY EXPECTATIONS
- Compliance-Based Maintenance: Perform all repairs and preventative maintenance in strict accordance with MSHA safety standards and internal workplace protocols.
- Environmental Stewardship: Maintain shop cleanliness to prevent slips, trips, and falls, and ensure proper disposal of hazardous fluids and materials.
- Active Safety Culture: Identify potential hazards—such as worn hydraulic lines or compromised welds—before they lead to incidents.
- Immediate Notification: Report all safety concerns, near misses, or equipment defects to your supervisor immediately.
Key Areas Of Responsibilities - Mechanical Duties
- Install, align, maintain, and relocate stationary industrial machinery (pumps, fans, conveyors, Mine Hoist, rock-breakers, compressors).
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and post-repair testing to manufacturer specifications.
- Fabricate parts using lathes and grinders; perform minor welding repairs.
- Inspect equipment regularly to detect and prevent failures.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY - OPERATIONAL DUTIES
- Execute maintenance requests and inspections on stationary equipment (Underground & Surface).
- Assist mobile mechanics with large fleet repairs when required.
- Create work orders, source parts, and maintain records in CMMS.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S standards for machine guarding and lockout/tagout.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCE
- Completion of secondary school.
- Certification: Red Seal Millwright or Industrial Mechanic journeyperson ticket.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
- Basic underground common core modules.
- Minimum three years of experience as an industrial mechanic.
Other Skills And Abilities
- Lift up to 75 lbs regularly; work in confined spaces and demanding underground conditions.
- Flexible to work nights, weekends, and rotating shifts.
- Supply own tools; strong diagnostic and logical problem-solving skills.
- Stay current with evolving mining technologies.
ROTATION
- 14 on, 14 off 12 hour shifts days only
- Bunkhouse and kitchen access
- Travel allowance provided depending on location
- Pay or shift range: $43.60 CAD to $67.32 CAD
