Young-Davidson Mine
The Young-Davidson Mine is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. Located near Matachewan, Ontario—centrally positioned between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay, and Sudbury—the site is a cornerstone asset for Alamos Gold. A highly automated lower mine expansion completed in 2020 has strengthened production and free cash flow, positioning Young-Davidson as a foundation for the company’s long-term growth.

Role Overview
As an
Exploration Geologist, reporting to the Senior Exploration Geologists, you will support and execute a wide range of geological activities associated with near-mine and regional exploration programs at the Young-Davidson Mine. You will play a key role in data collection, interpretation, and geological modeling, contributing to exploration planning and results that support the long-term success of the operation.
Key Responsibilities
Geological Data Collection & Interpretation: Collect, organize, and interpret geological data from exploration programs including diamond drilling, surface sampling, field mapping, and re-logging of historic drill core.
Logging & Sampling Standards: Ensure best practices are followed for drill core logging, sampling, QA/QC procedures, and database management.
Exploration Collaboration: Work closely with senior geologists to interpret geological information, support exploration plans, and execute work programs.
Geological Modeling: Participate in geological modeling and interpretation at the deposit and regional scale.
Health, Safety & Environment: Uphold strong safety, environmental, and operational standards and actively contribute to a culture of safety and accountability.
Reporting & Communication: Assist with technical reporting and communicate interpretation results to senior leadership and management.
Additional Duties: Support regional exploration activities and perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring To The Table
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Science.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Geologist in Training (GIT) or Professional Geologist (P.Geo).
- Recent graduate up to 5 years of experience in mineral exploration.
- Strong understanding of geological principles, mineralogy, structural geology, and gold deposit models.
- Experience logging diamond drill core.
- Self-motivated with strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and community engagement.
- Experience with Leapfrog, ArcGIS, and SQL databases considered an asset.

Working Conditions
- Rotational schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off
- Site-based role at the Young-Davidson Mine, Ontario
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in core sheds, field environments, and mine-related settings
- Capable of handling core boxes and conducting active fieldwork
Travel & Accommodation

Salary: $74,750 CAD - $122, 350

The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
