Your Impact
As Team Lead, Payroll Services, you will supervise payroll operations to ensure each payroll cycle is completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with performance and regulatory standards. You’ll lead a team, oversee day-to-day processes, resolve payroll issues, and support continuous improvement efforts across Newmont’s global operations.
As Part of Our Team, You Will
- Supervise the delivery of all payroll cycles, including accurate recording of pay data, changes, and month-end closures.
- Schedule, prioritize, and assess team performance.
- Monitor compliance with country-specific regulations and requirements.
- Approve payroll and deposit requests for submission to Lead Payroll Services.
- Administer payroll for casual employees and ensure accurate cost center allocations.
- Ensure payslips provide clear, detailed breakdowns of earnings and deductions.
- Resolve employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies, escalating when necessary.
- Identify and escalate process improvement opportunities to leadership and the Process Excellence team.
- Oversee implementation of process, policy, or regulatory changes, such as tax or wage code updates.
- Support payroll-related audits and correct errors identified during reviews.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
- Degree in Finance, IM, Business Administration, Human Resources or experience in lieu of degree.
- Advanced English level (B2+ at least)
- Previous experience leading US/Canadá/Latam payroll teams, with specific payroll operations experience.
- Competent proficiency in: SAP HR and Payroll systems, supervising payroll delivery in a Global Shared Services model, analyzing data for performance and compliance, and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Visio, and SharePoint
- Knowledge of Success Factors Compensation module, payroll management best practices, auditing, and compliance.
- Understanding of service delivery performance standards, regional/country-specific regulatory requirements, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to foster a positive and productive work environment.
Your Work Environment
- You will be part of Newmont’s Global Delivery Center (GDC) in Costa Rica, working within the Corporate function.
- The role is people-focused and involves cross-functional collaboration with global stakeholders across People, Finance, IT, and Supply Chain teams.
- While the position is intended to be hybrid, as we establish our foundation, we will begin on-site to foster strong relationships, align our strategies, and ensure a solid framework for long-term success.
- We currently have both day and night shift schedules available.
- Compensation will be aligned with the local Costa Rican market and paid in Costa Rican colones (CRC).
