We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Manager to oversee sales operations across one or multiple districts. This role is responsible for coordinating sales activities with wholesalers, developing and expanding the sales network, managing inventory, and ensuring effective execution of liquidation plans.
The position also involves analysing competitorsā products to identify features, benefits, gaps, and overall market performance to support strategic sales and product decisions.
The Sales Manager reports directly to the State Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Coordination with Wholesalers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesalers within the assigned territory.
- Coordinate sales activities and strategies to ensure efficient product distribution.
- Monitor wholesaler performance and provide ongoing support to meet and exceed sales targets.
Sales Network Development
- Identify and onboard new wholesalers to expand the sales network.
- Strengthen long-term relationships with existing and potential partners.
- Implement strategies to increase product reach and market penetration.
Collection Follow-Up
- Ensure timely collection of payments from wholesalers.
- Track outstanding accounts and take proactive action to minimize overdue payments.
- Maintain accurate collection records and provide regular status updates.
Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory levels at wholesalersā warehouses to ensure optimal stock availability.
- Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams for stock replenishment.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to prevent stockouts or excess inventory.
Execution of Liquidation Plan
- Work closely with field assistants to implement liquidation plans effectively.
- Monitor progress and effectiveness of liquidation activities.
- Adjust strategies as required to ensure timely stock clearance.
Competitor Analysis
- Analyse competitor products, identifying features, benefits, shortfalls, and market success.
- Detect opportunities for product improvement and differentiation.
- Use market intelligence to support product, sales, and marketing strategies.
About You
Education
- Bachelorās degree in Agronomy.
Experience
- Minimum 8ā10 years of proven experience in the fertiliser industry, in comparable sales or commercial roles.
Languages
- Fluency in Kannada and English is mandatory.
- Professional proficiency in English (spoken and written) suitable for a global organization.
- Knowledge of additional local languages is a plus.
Computer Skills
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Attitude & Personality
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and building successful sales networks.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven, strategic decisions.
- Familiarity with inventory control, collections, and financial follow-up processes.
