Purpose of role:
The Ore Control Tech provides essential field and technical support to the Copper World Project by ensuring the accurate collection, processing, and documentation of geological and metallurgical samples. The role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of ore data through precise sampling, density testing, and data entry, while safely operating equipment to support geology and survey operations. Acting as a cross-functional liaison, this position ensures that field data and sample submittals align with the project’s operational requirements and production targets.
This role will be located at the Copper World Project, approximately 45 minutes southwest of Tucson near Sahuarita, Arizona.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Field Operations & Safety: Work safely to maintain an organized workplace and follow all company policies.
- Equipment Operation: Operate small equipment including pickups, flatbed trucks, skid steers, forklifts, or backhoes.
- Site Navigation: Drive safely on haul roads, one-way accesses, and on drill patterns.
- Geology & Survey Support: Assist departments with field tasks such as digging drill cones, staking, surveying, and performing spotter duties near high walls.
- Communication: Coordinate with haul trucks, blast crews, and drills using proper radio communication.
- Sample Management: Submit and maintain paperwork for blast hole/core samples and transport samples to the Tucson lab.
- Data & Analysis: Perform data entry into tracking spreadsheets, conduct density testing (wet/dry weight) on core and pulp samples, and sift samples into chip trays.
- Logistics & Maintenance: Organize warehouses, move/stack pallets of drill core, and keep department trucks clean and maintained.
- Technical Tasks: Split drill core for analysis using an automated core saw and collect rock samples from road cuts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
- Education: High School diploma or GED.
- Physical: Ability to lift 50 lbs and meet all other physical requirements of the job.
- Compliance: Maintain a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
- Transport: Possess a valid Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to the field location.
- Soft Skills: Positive work ethic and the ability to work well with different departments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification: Current MSHA.
- Experience: Previous experience at mine or construction sites.

The work environment will necessitate work near moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions such as hot and/or dry conditions. Work will be conducted in locations where noise, fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration may exist.
Employee will be expected to drive a company vehicle, rental vehicle and/or his/her own vehicle in the course of performing the job, Employee must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle, including use of eyes, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current and valid driver's license.
