Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Position Reports To: Chief U/G Geologist
Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the incumbent is responsible for the leadership and direction in all underground geological activities related to the development of the project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership and direction of the mine geology group, and establishing, managing, and prioritizing activities to achieve short term and strategic goals of the operation while maximizing the recovery of the reserve and identifying any new resources to be converted into reserves. Specific areas of oversight include ore control, reserve definition drilling, UG Mine Exploration, geological interpretation, short range modeling, geologic database, month end reporting, and reconciliation. The Senior Underground Project Geologist is expected to lead by the example and to ensure the department employs safe working policies and behaviors.

Key Responsibilities
- Implement best practices with respect to resource modelling, and ore control
- Work in conjunction with the Chief Geologist to ensure the achievement of departmental and operational goals.
- Ensure he/she and the team, work in accordance with the safety procedures
- Daily communication with Engineering, Mine Operations and Contractors
- Oversee activities related to the modelling and examination of geological data
- Oversee activities related to consulting requirements to support the grade control process
- Implement best practices with respect to software usage, data management, and file management
- Daily, Weekly, Monthly reporting
- Ensure the QAQC protocols are in place and followed.
- Assist in m onitoring and reporting QAQC results
- Participate in the coaching, mentorship, and evaluation of non-technical staff.
- Assist in all aspects of production and in other key areas of the mine as required
- Assist in open pit Geology activities as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or related field
- Registered or able to register as a GIT or P. Geo in Ontario, Canada
- Demonstrated knowledge of ore control, drill program, resource estimation processes, mapping and reconciliation
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in mining, underground mining experience is preferred
- Strong interdepartmental communication skills
- Proven abilities to lead, manage and mentor
- Able to change and re-prioritize tasks as new information is gathered
- Strong ability to self-learn
- Knowledge of Leapfrog and Deswik packages is preferred
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $120,000.00 - $150,000.00.
