The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a
Senior Chemist to join our
Technical Services team in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.
The role is a permanent on-site position
,working a 2 week on/2 week off schedule at the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site.
As a Senior Chemist, you will provide technical leadership to the Site Analytical Laboratory at Voisey’s Bay Mine Site. In this role, you will support the Laboratory Superintendent while driving technical excellence, method development, and continuous improvement. You will also help ensure all laboratory activities are carried out safely, meet required standards, and deliver accurate, timely, and cost-effective results in support of Operations and environmental regulatory compliance.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of the QA/QC program in line with corporate guidelines.
- Lead method development, validation, and continuous improvement, and provide technical training to laboratory personnel.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Prepare samples and perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Use the Laboratory Information Management System to track and report sample results in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support the Laboratory Superintendent with budgeting, cost tracking, vendor maintenance coordination, and consumables and supply management.
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and work areas, including support for 5S implementation.
- Investigate out-of-specification results and customer complaints, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with mill metallurgists to troubleshoot operational issues and develop, validate, and implement new SOPs and bench-scale testing methods.

About You
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory.
- Experience using analytical equipment such as ICP, XRF and LECO.
- Experience with Extractive Metallurgy/Mineral Processing is considered an asset.
Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership in safety practices and behaviours.
- Strong knowledge of computerized electronic instrumentation and analytical chemistry theory and practice, particularly in geochemical and environmental analysis.
- Proven ability to work effectively with a multicultural team with diverse educational backgrounds and experience, supported by strong leadership, coaching, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, multitasking, and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform effectively in a remote site environment.
- Solid understanding of statistics, along with experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), word processing, spreadsheet, and scientific software applications.
