About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Mining Engineer, this is a hands-on planning role where you’ll play a key part in shaping how the underground operation runs day to day and into the future.
You’ll be responsible for designing workable, practical mine plans and schedules that the site can rely on, from monthly and quarterly plans through to longer term forecasts. It’s about more than just producing a plan; you’ll be working closely with operations to make sure it’s achievable, tracking how it performs, and continuously looking for ways to improve it.
In this role, you’ll:
- Own short-term planning, delivering clear and achievable monthly and quarterly schedules
- Contribute to longer-term planning, including life-of-mine development and budget/forecast schedules
- Monitor performance against plan, identify gaps, and find smarter, more efficient ways of working
- Keep a close eye on costs and ensure designs maximise value without compromising safety
- Identify risks early in the design phase and build in practical controls before they become issues
This is a position where your work directly impacts how the mine operates. You’ll be trusted to think ahead, solve problems, and work closely with a range of stakeholders underground and on the surface.
The role is offered residentially or FIFO from Perth on an 8:6 roster (Thursday to Thursday, 12-hour days).
About You
You’re someone who enjoys being part of a team and takes pride in producing work that people can rely on. You don’t just create plans, you want to see them succeed, and you’re comfortable working with others to make that happen.
You communicate clearly, build strong working relationships, and are open to feedback. You’re also someone who can step back, look at the bigger picture, and work through complex problems to find practical solutions.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- A degree in Mining Engineering (or a related discipline)
- 3+ years underground mine engineering experience (design, planning, scheduling, and D&B)
- Proven experience in monthly and quarterly planning schedules
- Previous involvement in in the long-term scheduling (budgeting/forecasting of the LOM)
- A high level of proficiency with mine design software, ideally Deswik and Aegis.
