High Voltage Engineer - Renewables - UK
Earthstream is currently seeking an experienced High Voltage Engineer to join the UK operation of an international EPC business. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, installation, commissioning of the 132kV substations for the utility scale turnkey projects they build across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and review high voltage electrical systems and associated equipment.
- Oversee installation, testing, commissioning of the above systems.
- Conduct fault finding, diagnostics, and root cause analysis of electrical system issues.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and health & safety requirements.
- Prepare technical documentation including reports, drawings, procedures, and specifications.
- Support project planning and delivery from concept through to completion.
- Liaise with internal teams, contractors, clients, and stakeholders.
Essential requirements
- Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Proven experience working with high voltage systems and electrical infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of HV switching operations, protection systems, and power distribution networks up to 132Kv.
- Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and regulations.
- Strong experience with testing, commissioning substations.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Full driving licence.
Desirable:
- SAP or AP status or relevant HV authorisation experience.
- Experience in utilities, renewable energy, or industrial environments.
- Familiarity with protection relays and SCADA systems.
