The opportunity:
We have X 2 exciting opportunities available at a large-scale open pit and large-scale underground mine with Glencore Australia
Role 1: McArthur River Mine (MRM)
- Open pit Lead / Zinc Mine in the Northern Territory
- 100% FIFO operation
Role 2: George Fisher Mine (GFM)
- Large scale underground Lead / Zinc Mine in Mt Isa
- Residential OR FIFO
These two positions are similar in scope. We're looking for someone who is one step away from Mine Management — a person who can influence, has a growth mindset, focused on analysis, benchmarking, and improvement across safety, volume, and cost.
This role will help shape and govern the improvement portfolio, driving initiatives that create impact where it matters most.
Both are newly created positions centred on operational performance and improvement. The successful candidate will influence key stakeholders, focused on short term delivery, balanced with strategic direction, benchmark against industry peers, and drive delivery that lifts our performance relative to competitors.
We're looking for someone who can bring out the best in people and in the operation by supporting and driving the direction of meaningful improvement initiatives.
Experience Required:
- Degree in Mining Engineering or another related subject matter
- Experience in governance and continuous improvement with strong analytical, problem solving and commercial acumen.
- Excellent engagement, influencing and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement frameworks, systems and reporting
- Experience working in a leadership role in a mining production environment in either open pit or underground.
- Obtained / or could gain First Class Manager Certificate
