Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
Job Description
We are seeking a passionate, relationship-driven Human Resources Officer to join our HR team based at our Moranbah North Mine, in Moranbah, QLD. This is the perfect opportunity for someone to step foot into one of the world’s most longstanding and rapidly growing industries, with a leading globally recognized company.
This multifaceted position is based on site where you will support the mine's Human Resources Business Partnering portfolio. This includes provision of both corporate and site Human Resources systems, processes, and services across the full employment lifecycle in this true “hands on” Human Resources generalist role.
As the Human Resources Officer, you are responsible for but not limited too:
- Supporting the HR Superintendent in the provision of sound advice to line managers in all aspects of HR management to assist in the delivery of the business plan
- Providing support to employees and managers with general HR and payroll enquiries and resolves issues and problems
- Assist with payroll data entry and ensure timely and accurate processing of employee information
- Provide advice, coaching and support to operational teams in relation to the entire employee life cycle including recruitment, employee engagement, learning and development, performance management, employee relations, absence management
- Champion pipeline programs for Moranbah Mine including Vacation Students, Apprentices & Graduates.
- Building and fostering collaborative relationships with both employees and leaders, whilst managing the Human Resources plans and key performance indicators
- Effective implementation of HR policies, procedures, industrial instruments, initiatives, and programs at Moranbah Mine
- Deal with industrial and employee relations, unions and employee representatives within your scope
- Assist with the management of service contractors
Qualifications
The key attributes contributing to your success in this role will include:
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, or a related discipline (desirable)
- Have experience working in mining, heavy industry, or construction (desirable)
- Resilient nature, openness for change and demonstrated ability to drive best practice
- Excellent time management skills, ability to meet deadlines & plan ahead
- Ability to prioritise workload and work in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication skills, ability to negotiate, influence and achieve stakeholder buy-in
