Job Summary
The primary role of the Truck Driver is to haul and dump broken ore and waste from development or production headings.
General
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Refuels, check coolant and engine and hydraulic oils, lubricate all points and complete standard daily check forms and drive equipment to and from work area
- Visually inspect, sounds, scales and washes down work area, if required
- Operates and controls truck for loading, hauling and dumping
- Loads transports and unloads tools, equipment, mining supplies, explosives and blasting supplies, scrap, etc., if required
- Performs minor repairs such as tightening bolts, fittings, etc.
- Completes daily log books on equipment and submits written and verbal reports to supervisor
- Reports progress and any unusual occurrences to supervisor
- Keeps working area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage

Health And Safety
- Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
- Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
- Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
- Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Basic literacy (read, write, basic math) required
Work Experience
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience running heavy equipment machinery (in mining industry - preferred)
- Experience operating 45 ton trucks
- Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)
- Required Speciality Module: U0091 (preferred)
Knowledge Required
- Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.
- Ability to multi task and work effectively
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Respectful of cultural differences
