Your Impact
As an Advisor, Health & Safety, Legacy at Newmont, you’ll play a key role in driving a proactive safety culture and ensuring the health and wellbeing of our teams across multiple Canadian sites. You’ll provide on-the-ground support, coaching, and technical expertise to help operations identify and control workplace risks, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement in all aspects of safety performance.
This role is remote but requires travel to our Con Mine Sites in Yellowknife (NT), Houston (BC), and Marathon (ON). Candidates located in Western Canada or those willing to relocate are strongly preferred to support travel efficiency, site collaboration, and project ownership.
As Part of Our Team, You Will
- Conduct field inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with Newmont standards and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver hands-on safety coaching and training, promoting safe work practices and hazard awareness across diverse site teams.
- Support incident investigations using root cause analysis or 5 Why and Essential Factors methodologies, ensuring learnings are captured and acted upon.
- Assist in developing and executing site Health & Safety plans, including fatality risk management, injury reduction, and wellbeing programs.
- Champion and operationalize Safety Management Systems, including change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with regional Health & Safety peers to maintain consistency, data integrity, and compliance across sites.
- Coordinate OHS Representative programs and facilitate workforce engagement in health and safety initiatives.
- Provide technical and advisory support to frontline supervisors and operational leaders to strengthen ownership of safety practices.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
Education:
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Risk Management, or a related field experience.
Experience:
- Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in H&S roles, ideally within mining, construction, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Experience leading field inspections, audits, investigations, and risk assessments.
- Strong background in program implementation and safety coaching in remote or project-based environments.
Certifications (Assets):
- CRSP, NCSO, NEBOSH, or equivalent recognized safety designation.
- Valid First Aid, WHMIS, and Incident Investigation training.
Knowledge and Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of Canadian OHS legislation and industry best practices.
- Proficiency with risk management processes, change management, and safety systems (Intelex, Enablon, Digital Action Tracking system, or similar).
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills using Excel or other tools
Interpersonal Skills:
- Skilled communicator who builds trust with diverse stakeholders.
- Analytical, adaptable, and confident in influencing safe behaviours.
- Self-motivated with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
Your Work Environment
- Work Type: Remote (with approximately 50% travel to Yellowknife, NT, Houston, BC and Marathon, ON).
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday, regular business hours.
- Conditions: Mix of office-based administrative work and site visits to active mining and industrial settings.
- Safety: Strict adherence to PPE and all site safety requirements is mandatory.

The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 83,400-111,180. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
