Your impact
Reporting to the Director, Business Improvement, in the newly created position of Specialist, Business Improvement, you will be an integral contributor to the execution and delivery of Newmont’s reshaping global business improvement strategy at a site-based, operational level for the Tanami Operations.
The primary purpose of your role will be to enhance site productivity outcomes by recommending improvements through the analysis, program management and delivery of data insights into business improvement initiatives at site level.
As part of our team you will
- Review data analytics and insights to ensure business improvement initiative outcomes are measured and monitored
- Identify internal and external benchmarks for productivity improvements and monitor site performance against these benchmarks
- Collaborate with site and project teams on the execution of business improvement initiatives and guide performance metrics definition and monitoring of productivity impacts
- Create reports and distribute information on improvement metrics
- Conduct training sessions on process improvements based upon data analysis
- Create and deliver presentations on improvement project impacts and learnings
- Adhere to global business improvement standards and ensure operating procedures are maintained at site level
Prerequisites for your success in the role
- Degree qualification in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Industrial, Process) or related
- Experience in mine operations and understanding of mining processes – i.e. drill and blast
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methods – i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints
- Understanding of change management application in an operational environment
- Root cause analysis, value stream mapping and workshop facilitation experience
- Well-developed safety awareness including risk and compliance in improvement initiatives
- Operational productivity data analysis skills with ability to identify gaps for improvement
- Ability to create visualisation dashboards and presentations that reflect data driven insights
- Project delivery experience with skills in performance tracking against KPI’s
- Skills in ERP and operational data systems – i.e. SAP
- Proficient data analysis skills and use of visualisation tools – i.e. Excel and Power BI
- Knowledge of SQL and/or scripting preferred
- Full and unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia
Your work environment
Newmont has fully owned and operated the Tanami mine since 2002. The mine operates in the remote Tanami Desert of Australia. The mine and plant are located on Aboriginal freehold land that is owned by the Warlpiri people and managed on their behalf by the Central Desert Aboriginal Lands Trust. Tanami is a fly-in-fly-out operation in one of Australia’s most remote locations. Tanami is 270 km from its closest neighbours, the remote Aboriginal community of Yuendumu.
This permanent position will be based on-site at the Tanami Mine Operation in the remote Northern Territory working on a fly in, fly out flexible roster (8:6) from Perth, Darwin, Brisbane or Alice Springs.
Full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia will be essential.
