Your impact
Reporting to the Global Head, Supply Chain Operations, in the position of Director, Supply Chain Operations, Australia you will manage the regional supply chain (SC) portfolio and SC functions in alignment with Newmont’s Commercial and Business Unit strategies.
In this team leadership role your key responsibilities will be to
- Manage and implement Newmont’s global SC strategy for a regional portfolio including developing and delivering against KPI’s for safety, continuous improvement, inventory management, total cost of ownership and cost reduction targets
- Build, influence, and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with operational and functional stakeholders, fostering collaboration, strategic alignment, and effective communication to align and achieve end-to-end supply chain goals and overarching business results
- People-leadership, including building and developing high-performing teams, coaching managers, driving proactive engagement, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all levels of the supply chain organisation
- Lead safety initiatives, work with external partners, ensure compliance to safety protocols and develop critical controls consistent with Newmont’s Always Safe approach
- Develop and execute transport, logistics and materials management strategies and tactics to ensure regional operational performance is stable and cost effective
- Build relationships with regional and local suppliers and nurture those with higher levels of risk and complexity
- Develop and implement local and indigenous supplier strategies in alignment with social performance and regulatory and/or contractual obligations
- Own the regional SC budget, monitor expenditure and executive financial reporting capability.
Prerequisites for your success in the role
- Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business Management and an MBA or equivalent post-graduate qualification
- Extensive experience in global supply chain operations, sourcing and procurement, inventory management, category management and supplier/stakeholder engagement
- Proven team leadership experience with ability to develop high performing teams and drive performance across all levels of the supply chain organisation
- Experience in a gold mining or broader hard rock mining environment with extensive understanding of mining operations and projects
- Understanding of business improvement methodology and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret complex data, manage budgets, evaluate operational/financial trade-offs and apply structured problem-solving to drive informed, high-impact decisions in dynamic supply chain environments
- Proficient skills in MS Office applications and SAP
- Full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia.
Your work environment
This permanent position will be offered on a flexible work arrangement based out of Newmont’s Perth capital city office in Subiaco, Western Australia. It is anticipated you will be a seasoned professional accustomed to working from home while utilising Newmont’s Perth office as required to be effective in your role. Full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia will be essential.
